48hours is all that i have left here in this peaceful little town up north of finland.
I went to visit my kummi (family) for the last time yesterday :((
I'm really glad to have her over here, it's almost like having another family :)
she's always looking out for us and taking care of us!
One thing that i'm going to miss about this place is the times spent with her.
I'm pretty sure she's just about one of the closest Finnish friend i have.
Niina refuses to take pictures with her knowing so one can only SNEAKILY SNAP SOME.

NELLA :D

Growing up in a big city (trust me, sg may be small but its capacity is boundless and big), I have always been used to having something to do all the time. 24 hours food chains, entertainments, cinemas, huge shopping district, late night suppers, kbox, just chilling with friends, driving around town at anytime of the day......
life has always been so fast paced and time just zooms by without much thought. Places are always crowded, the human traffic can get really frustrating and crazy at times.
There was never room for a small cup of tea, scones and lazing an afternoon away at a small cafe down the road.
night skyline of singapore :)

I started off with complaining how boring Oulu is because there's simply nothing much to do here but over time i began to see the beauty in the peace and serenity this place offers.
Imagine no traffic jams, no squeezing up the bus, a lot a lot of space!
Everything is so relaxing, peaceful and spacious.
Small town, unlimited imagination.

Despite having its crazily cold and dark months, I really enjoyed the weather :)
one does not sweat and it's always so cooling these days.
Spring/summer is awesome because the weather is cooling and there's plenty of SUN!! it's the perfect combination :)

ZOMG SEE HOW MUCH FATTER I HAVE BECOME :(
I gave many first times to this small town/finland
First time seeing snow, first time skiing, first time meeting santa claus, first time seeing a reindeer, first time eating one, first time having a real snow ball fight, first time building a snowmen (ok i didn't actually build one), first time seeing an ice instrument, first time doing ice swimming...
first time seeing an ice instrument performance

reindeer sledge amidst the crazy snow storm! the white dots are SNOW OK!! when snow appears on the photos it means the snowing intensity is extremely high

ICE SWIMMING! oh dear, im covered by the sprays of water but as you can see, there are SNOW/ICE by the side! the air temperature was -15 btw

I'm really going to miss Oulu because it has become my home over the past few months.
In fact, it's the only place that i have stayed so long apart from my sg home.
Having my own room is just about the best thing ever.
I think i'm not going to be used to sharing the bedroom and studyroom with my sis when i get home.

Conversations with the other europeans always leave them exclaiming how lucky i am to be able to travel to so many countries as they probably have never got to those places even though they live in Europe.
I'm really really thankful for my parents for giving me the freedom and for allowing me to go on this SEP and waste so much of their money while they slog so hard in singapore :/
I know they have never been to the places that i have been to and it really makes me feel bad inside.
I will find a way to repay them in time :')

Time to mug for my last exam, finish those !^&*#$@ Wastewater Treatment Assignments, PACK EVERYTHING INTO MY LUGGAGE (hope they fit) and jet off to my 6 weeks backpacking journey ;)

and soon after the 6 weeks, i will be flying HOME first time in 6 months! :)
A little looking forward to seeing my friends and family and eating the food but also dreading the hot and humid weather as well as the OVERLY populated country.

oh yeah, i will find time to blog about my travelling adventures too :)
SEE YOU IN 6 WEEKS TIME! :D
