Before I begin talking and spamming you with photos, lemme just wish Singapore a Happy Birthday! :D There is really no place like home :) All that food, friends, family, cleanliness and safety.

[090312-130312]
After a one month of traveling hiatus and concentrating on being just an exchange student, *cough* parties *cough* school *cough* parties *cough* I went to the capital of another Scandinavian country, Copenhagen, Denmark, just south west of Oulu, with my hk friends, nat, suki, mun and my sep buddy IV.

Awwwwwww you guys shouldn't have.... *inserts oh-stop-it-you meme* HAHAHAHA alrighty, I was welcomed by a huge group of fans waving their Danish flag at me.........ok they weren't, they were just waiting for some returning athletes.

Copenhagen is my favourite scandinavian capital (if you only count reykevik as a capital by itself without all the nature in Iceland, oh wait, Iceland isn't part of Scandinavia, it's a Nordic country LOL) Anyway, as i was  saying, I really enjoyed my visit to Copenhagen, it's such a happy, vibrant and colourful city! No wonder the danes are one of the happiest people around! I met some really helpful and friendly danes too, there was this girl who helped me get a train ticket because that machine didn't want to accept my cash :D I actually went to Copenhagen twice, the second time was just a short 1 night and half a day of stopover.
People love to commute by bicycles! There's even a separate road lane for bikes! Firstly the weather is awesome for cycling, secondly, copenhagen is small and easily accessible by bike.

We stayed at this hostel quite a distance from the city centre but still walkable

It was pretty cosy ;) Their common room seemed really well furnished!

Came across this cute bike while we were walking down the streets

Pardon me, I was very excited to see some flowers after just months and months of snow in Finland

Because LEGO is from Denmark so......

This is the famous shopping street (that I spent a lot of time at HAHA)

Had greek food buffet...... pretty good actually, although this isn't very visually appealing!

OMG I SWEAR DANISH PASTRIES ARE TO DIE FOR!!!

Their breakfast set really is freaking generous hahahah BUT IT WASN'T CHEAP I ASSURE YOU HAHA. Almost 10sgd i think?

One does not simply go to Denmark and not eat any Danish pastry!

We caught the changing of guards! This one was better than the one in Stockholm because they actually had LIVE music!

Rosenborg palace

I kinda like the king's garden although it was just barely spring when we were there! The trees were pretty much BALD :(

Somehow the leaves just remained autumn?

THIS IS MY FAV PART OF COPENHAGEN :D

Isn't NYHAVN PRETTY??

TRAVEL MATES :D Suki, IV, Nat, Mun

I love colourful houses!! :D It makes me feel so happy looking at them HAHAHAHA

Oh look, you can even kayak at the grand canal! It was still like hovering between 0-5deg btw

We took the grand canal tour and along the way we saw one of the most expensive houses in copenhagen!! HAHAHA *peeps in to see if there're some hot Danish guys*

Yatch ;)

We got to one end of the canal and guess what.................

THE LITTLE MERMAID!! HAHAHA One does not simply miss this! SHE DIDN'T WEAR A BRA/BIKINI/SEASHELLS BTW!!!

I look damn weird here but damn it, it's my only photo w the mermaid. SEEEEEEEE TOPLESS!!

AWW ANOTHER ONE!! :D Totally love this place!

Fancy some giant ice cream?

I think that day we had something between a LUNCH+DINNER, what do you call those stuffs? LUNNER?

SUCH A PIG I KNOW BUT WHO CAN RESIST CHUROS?? OMG HAHAHA IM SO MISSING THEM :(
WHY SO EXPENSIVE IN SG :(

Shop until a beautiful sunset, what more can you ask for?

We went for some drinks at a bar! hahahah I love somersby!! YES YES I KNOW, IT'S A GIRLY APPLE CIDER.

I figured that Danes are pretty sporty, I kept seeing people running everywhere! Perhaps because they have such good weather!

Pretty handle!

We had brunch at this rather vintage cafe called Europa, it's beneath a hotel.

Eggs royale, basically eggs benedict but with smoked salmon instead of bacon

LOOK AT THAT POACHED EGG!! It was this poached egg that inspired me to make my own ;) HAHAHA

Cute Danish flag on, well, I would prefer not to know what that is

Christainhavn

Mun and Suki went to visit Hans christain anderson's home so it was just the 3 of us for the day

This is apparently the highest point in Copenhagen BUT the tower was closed for the season :(

It was just like any other church, nothing special

Have you ever heard of Micro states? They are like mini states within a huge independent state, they can be said to be autonomous.

Free town christiana is one such state within Copenhagen! They are the only part in Denmark that doesn't belong to the Danish government, living by their own set of rules! #ifyouknowwhatimean

It's a UNESCO site too! HAHAHA I'm not too sure but some many years ago, a bunch of gypsies retreated to this plot of land and decided to call it their own?

I found the signboard really cute though hahahahah

Like I said, people there basically have the freedom to do anything they want! Most of the houses are built by themselves and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes! Most of them are really colourful and decorated with some good graffiti!

The 3 yellow dots against a red rectangular bg is the symbol/flag for christiana! Doesn't it remind you of PAC MAN? HAHA

The famous Green light district ;) The only place in Denmark that you can get Drugs legally hahahaha

Something about Christiana is that they are actually very green, lots of nature everywhere! It doesn't look like other parts of Denmark!

I thought this house is pretty cool hahaha, some granny stays in it I think!

Just chilling by the lake.....

Even the bins are so colourful!

I think this is part of a kindergarten! Really colourful and happy huh!

awwwwww (i initially tried to put my head at where the cut outs were but I realise the space was too small HAHAHAHA

When was the last time you played such an old school seasaw? People there really lead very simple and back-to-basics life!

Playground

They have really cute sign boards all over too

Badass donald

Tree house!! Don't we all have this childhood fantasy of wanting to visit a tree house one day?

I left my mark ;)

Awww cute pony!!!

The black house is really oddly shaped hahah pretty interesting

awww a house by the lake! I would love to live there ;) But somehow i realised that most of the houses were made of wood! Pretty much like a fire hazard :X

The really tall weed really gave it a very country side feel

Freedom of expression :)

A danish pastry a day makes tiffy a happy girl ;)

Copenhagen is also the producer of CARLSBERG!!

Cherry blossoms!

I love vintage cars

I think this is only sold there

The visit to the brewery comes with two complimentary draft beers ;)

There was this gigantic beer museum!!!

WOOTS

Some old poster? They showed how Carlsberg evolved over the years from father to son....

totally reminded me of my ESE water modules HAHAHAH oooops geekiness

AWWW THEY HAVE REAL HORSES IN THEIR STABLES!! :D:D (damn, why do I look so sleepy here)

Limited edition apple ciders! I almost wanted to buy one bottle home!

YAY FREE BEER!!! It tasted a lot better straight from the tap!

IV was really RED HAHA

Tivoli, one of the oldest theme parks around, wasn't opened for the season! Bad thing about traveling during winter :(

HAHAH YOU MUST BE THINKING I'M CRAZY TO EAT THIS IN DENMARK BUT WE HAD REALLY GOOD SUSHI! :D:D

Some TOMATO CREAM SALMON FETTUCINE

On the last night we just had some buffet ;)

I really like the danish kroners!! SUPER CUTE RIGHT???

That concludes a really LOOOOOOOONG POST! HAHAHA
I really like the Danish culture, they are pretty high on drinking and eating so the restaurants close pretty late unlike the other scandinavian/nordic countries *cough*
Although Denmark is part of the nordic region and geographically closer to Sweden, they are actually more similar to their German neighbours hahahah
